'Officer Oliver', 5, on a mission to enforce law, spread joy

A young man in a police uniform is helping and charming seniors in Overland Park.

From his sunglasses to his badge to his bike, Oliver Davis, 5, may be the youngest “officer” in town. It’s not stopping him from making his rounds.
He’s been spreading joy and passing out roses at senior centers.
“We recently have been talking about how police are good and they do good things for people and he said, ‘I want to do good things, too,’” said Oliver’s mother, Brandi Davis.
Although he loves making people smile, Oliver takes his role as an officer very seriously.“When a car comes by, I radar it and see how fast it’s going,” he said.
“He got a letter in the mail by the Leawood Police thanking him for bringing cookies up and he was, like, ‘What does the letter say? Does it say I’m a real, official officer?’ and I said, ‘Well, yes,’” Brandi Davis said. “So he thinks it’s his duty now to patrol our street and to radar and to do good things.”
The community he serves has been grateful for his help.
Oliver’s mother said they’ve passed out flowers three times now. He said he wants to keep doing it to make people happy.
